Land Blessed by Earthly Sin

Land Blessed by Earthly Sin

Quickly grasping the furrow bestowed
Harshly breathing, the mares reflowed

Galloped across plain's deep bin
People hidden behind adobe's sin

Eyes sorrowed, blood's stain
Rocks blessed by Liberty's bane

Aztec, Incan, Mayan Tears
White Men's darkest fears

Heart's combined in warm land's love
Bullets and knives, the sinful dove

A People. The People new
Anger and revenge, bloodlust stew

21st century, immigration flares
The people come back, to reclaim what's theirs

A rose tree I once saw

A rose tree I once saw

Brown feathers falling through the air
Hard feet land aloof, holding on with care
Flowers misty with nightly dew
Unsettled they fell, at first a few

They traveled away, caught with a breeze
Landing so gently, on my speckled sleeve
I looked up, eyes cast on that tree
When I saw two birds, one not me

The song, those two birds did sing
Pondered my mind, wishes for one little thing
I wised to sing too, one day a song
With another so soft, days so long

I looked away, rain in my eyes
From the mist of the heavens, no more lies
Then I heard many chirps, they traveled to my ears
So many of them, a smile appears

I look away from that tree to oaks, maples and pines
Birds peep chirply, smiles lift hard lines

A dewy mist shrouds my beak
My wings open, I fly to birds that seek

A tree by the sea

A tree by the sea

Wood, lightly worn
Leaves as soft as summer rain
Branches reach out, hearts adorn
Trunk shutter, winds refrain

A drop, a single drop
Traves down infinite time
Sits -- with a little pop
On hands, soft -- repetitive rhyme

Leaves open, look at the Sun
Feel the earth beneath little toes
Hurl the weight, down down down
Breathe in the stars like innocent does
